What is prostatitis?Prostatitis is an inflammation of the prostate gland, which means the prostate can feel sore and irritated and can be a result of a bacterial or nonbacterial infection. How common is prostatitis?Prostatitis can affect men at any age and it is thought that one in every six men experience this disorder at some stage during their lives1. Prostatitis is not a life-threatening condition but it can be a very painful disorder.
